BOYS - Durfee High School

Popular opinion holds that the best sprinting occurs in warm weather. If that is the case Nauset has a lot to look forward to. At the end of a day of occasional showers and unseasonably cool weather Shavar Champagne, Owen Wilcox, Richard Ramsay and Dyllon McNeill shattered their own school record with a 44.36 clocking - old record 44.9 (ht). Handoff practice finally payed dividends as they posted three flawless exchanges.

McNeill had already placed 5th in the 100M dash (11.51). Champagne placed third in a sophomore 100M (11.86) and Ramsay placed third in a freshman 100M (11.94). Wilcox had earlier posted a 23.40 in the 200M.

It wasn’t just a day for sprinters though as milers Brian Brooks (6th-4:28.46) and Jacob Pearl (9th-4:31.18) posted fast times. Pearl started in the outside barrel and found clear sailing throughout, posting a lifetime best. Brooks was in the inside barrel and found himself caught in the back of the pack after a rough start. Brooks patiently worked up through the field and finally broke into the clear to throw down a 62 second last lap.

Tyreese Ferguson was 8th in the 110M hurdles (16.38) with Matt Cahill 9th (16.40). Cahill also cleared 5’10” in the high jump.
