Nauset found themselves in a familiar position, leaving the field events with a deficit of 33-21. Once on the track they turned on the jets employing eight different runners to win all eight running events and split the relays enroute to an 80-56 victory.

 

Sandwich proved formidable as they forced Nauset to set PR’s in most of those events in order to win.

 

Kara Moore went under 27 seconds in the 200M for the first time by running 26.6 and edging Sandwich by inches. Rebecca Pranga was pushed below 63 seconds in the 400M setting a new pr of 62.0.

 

Sophie Christopher dropped under 70 seconds in the 400M for the first time winning the finishing in 1:09.5 with Abby Qvarnstrom placing 2nd in 1:13.2.

 

In the mile Izzy Nobili ran 5:20.8 edging her opponent by two seconds. Abby Farrell placed 3rd at 5:55.7.

 

The Warriors scored big points in the 100M, 100M hurdles and 800M. In the dash the trio of Alena O’Connor, Polly Watson and Taylor Fleming posted the 1-2-3 finish, Nauset’s only sweep of the meet. Hannah Gale(16.7) and Lillian Manganaro (18.2) ran 1-2 in hurdles. Rachel Pranga ran to victory in the 800M at 2:28.5 followed by Hannah Muse at 2:35.9. Tara Ellard (11:43.7) and Madaket Nobili (11:53.4) grabbed 1-3 in the two mile.

 

Nauset won the 4X400M relay with the team of Manganaro, Christopher and both Prangas.

 

Despite falling behind in the field events there were bright spots. Amy Poyant posted Nauset’s only field event win, throwing 72’10” followed with a second place from Nora Lucy (68’0”). The pair also placed 2-3 in discus (74’1” and 68’4”)

 

 

Both Manganaro and Rebecca Pranga jumped 14’7” in the long jump while Pranga posted a PR 31’10.5” in triple. Christopher added a jump of 31’7” which was also a PR. Freshman Sydney Griffin continued to improve in shot put by tossing a team leading 26’7”.

 

Kara Moore placed 2nd in high jump at 4’6”.

 

Nauset completed their dual meet season at 5-2 and are headed to Sharon on Saturday for the MSTCA State Coaches Invitational.
